Sacred Heart Sacrifice Club
History
Fr. Cornelius Ryan, Retreat House director for 1954 -55, launched the “Pack-of Cigarettes-a-Week Club”, to augment financial income, and to keep retreatants apprised of activity at the Retreat House. The concept was to encourage members to contribute the equivalent of the cost of a pack of cigarettes, per week, to the Retreat House. (Back then, that amounted to $1 per month!)In the early ‘60s, the name was changed to the Sacred Heart Sacrifice Club.
How it works
Each month, the Retreat House director sends a newsletter and a convenience envelope to club members. While under no obligation, you are encouraged to make a monthly contribution. In addition to the newsletter, once each month the members receive the benefit of a Mass said for them. Contributions to the club account for about one-third of the Retreat House’s annual income.
How to join
If you are interested in joining the Sacred Heart Sacrifice Club, please contact the Retreat House. (See the General Information web page)
For your convenience, the monthly newsletters will also be available here.
